Rusty Scarborough, CASL Director of Coaching states “CASL is proud to be involved with this new and exciting addition to our club. It is our hope that we will be a model for US Soccer to continue to expand in this area. CASL Para is a new youth program for athletes between the ages of 5-18 with physical disabilities (e.g., cerebral palsy, stroke survivors, traumatic brain injury, and amputees). "
CASL Para seeks to provide an opportunity for kids with disabilities to benefit from physical activity, recreation, and sports participation through soccer. This program’s goal is to become a pipeline to the US Paralympic Soccer team which falls under the auspices of both the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Olympic Committee. The Paralympic Games occur every four years immediately following the Olympics. The events are the same in competition; however these world-class athletes have been diagnosed as being physically disabled an Olympic athletic competition for disabled athletes.
