Raleigh, NC – Today John Dalpe, CASL Board Chairman and Executive Director (interim), and Sean Nahas, Director of Soccer (interim) announced that the 2013-14 CASL Hamilton Sportsmanship Award recipients will be honored during halftime of the Carolina RailHawks game on Saturday, May 31 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. More than 650 players ages 6-18 were nominated by their coaches or teammates to receive the award, which is designed to recognize players who exhibit integrity, good sportsmanship, positive attitudes, and respect for all. More than 300 players will be present to receive their award this coming Saturday.

“Having 650 of our players recognized by their peers and coaches for exemplifying the qualities of outstanding sportsmanship is comparable to the highest achievements we ever achieve as a club on the field,” said John Dalpe.  “I am honored to recognize all of them on behalf of our coaches, staff, members, and the founders of CASL, including Pat Hamilton - the namesake of the award – as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary Year.”

This year’s Hamilton Sportsmanship Award is presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods and also proudly supported by CiCi’s Pizza and WakeMed Health and Hospitals. Thanks to this generous support, each Hamilton Sportsmanship Award winner will receive a personalize award certificate, gift pack, and free pizza. Dick’s Sporting Goods and WakeMed Health and Hospitals sponsored the award certificates for each player. Dick’s Sporting Goods also is sponsoring the gift packs to be distributed to each winner. CiCi’s Pizza will be offering a slice of pizza to all award recipients and their guests during the pre-game festivities.

“Dick’s Sporting Goods believes that sports play a vital role in teaching our children fundamental values like a strong work ethic, integrity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship,” said James Havens, Community Marketing Manager for Dick’s Sporting Goods. “We also believe that supporting organizations, such as CASL, which make youth sports possible, is the best way to promote these values.  Being a proud supporter of the Hamilton Sportsmanship Award is the perfect way to instill those important life lessons.”
